Geoecology is an interdisciplinary science that studies the composition, structure, patterns of functioning and evolution of natural and anthropogenically transformed ecosystems at a high level of organization. The methodological foundations of geoecology are knowledge and research that determine the elements of the geosphere that are affected by man-made activities and their interrelation; qualitative and quantitative parameters describing these effects; methods by which these parameters can be established, measured, calculated, subject to control and observation; technical, technological means that can implement the data methods for minimizing or eliminating impacts on geospheric shells
